Georgisches Kammerorchester Ingolstadt
Ruben Gazarian
At first glance, there appears to be little connecting the composers Paul Juon, Fabian Muller, Ernest Bloch and Arthur Honegger save their common Swiss heritage and the fact that the works recorded here call for a string orchestra and solo instrumentalists. Slightly over nine decades separate the youngest and oldest of these composers; their biographies and oeuvres, however, reveal a number of surprising similarities. Founded in 1964 in Tbilisi, Georgia but based in Ingolstadt, Germany since 1990, the Georgisches Kammerorchester is here led by its newly minted (2015) A.D. Ruben Gazarian.

A well-photographed short video for the SACD that shows the Georgisches Kammerorchester Ingolstadt in a January 2015 performance. Narration by conductor Gazarian in German. I have ordered the SACD and will add further comments when I've had a chance to hear it.
