The last RCO live release?

Or how to understand the last sentences here:
https://www.concertgebouworkest.nl/en/the-rco-makes-video-recordings-available-free-on-website

RCO goes with free video releases and stop all RCO editions.

At least to this writer that would be a loss. A chance for BIS to step in ?

Final sentence reads: "Since it is now making video recordings available on its website, the orchestra will no longer be producing new RCO Edition releases. The RCO Editions app will be discontinued at the beginning of 2018".

Looks pretty clear to me. About BIS recording RCO : Strauss: Oboe Concerto, Wind Serenade, Wind Sonatina No. 2 - Ogrintchouk / Nelsons

Wait a minute. I received the following email in January 2017: "It is nice to hear that not only our performances but also the recordings themselves are appreciated! Unfortunately we do not have any plans to release the Mahler DVD/BD recordings in other formats. I hope you are not too disappointed. You may find it interesting to know that we are currently working on a Bruckner 4 and Mahler 2 recorded in DXD, which will (later this year) be released as SACDs but also as DSD64, DSD128, DSD256 and DXD downloads, both in stereo and surround". So I assume these will be the last releases hosted by RCO Live.

Hi Cilia, What's your point?

Comment by Wolfspaw - July 5, 2017 (6 of 8)

I believe that cilea was trying to say that RCO Editions is a video magazine app for the IPad and that by releasing videos directly onto it's own website, RCO is merely removing a source of potential duplication by discontinuing both RCO Editions and therefore the app.

I read Tommy's comment above as suggesting that RCO won't be releasing SACD's anymore; but that is not what is said by the RCO here: https://www.concertgebouworkest.nl/en/the-rco-makes-video-recordings-available-free-on-website
they are only canceling the App.

Is there information that I am missing suggesting that the RCO is not releasing physical media?

If there is, that sucks, but if not don't panic yet.

p.s.

A further clarification is needed since I am not convinced that RCO Editions = RCO Live. Not withstanding that BIS has a new old RCO SACD release.

Triggered by several suggestive, pertinent and brilliant remarks I contacted ‘the horse’s mouth’ and was confirmed that RCO Editions is now dead and that RCO Live lives on as before.

great news Adrian. Thanks for investigating.
