Thanks for the review, John. I'm wondering whether this will add to my understanding of the Bach so may I ask if it's clear whether the detective work in the Ciaconna is ...
Another keeper from the Tower Records (Japan) and ECM.
Sonically very good. I don't know enough about the DR history of this title, but as far as I can tell it has not been ...
I have owned and regularly listened to the RBCD of this for many a year. I saw the SACD set for less than a tenner so bought it. The sound is a definite improvement and I ...
I have been using them for many years and now even happier that I can use them and also support this site.
Regarding Gatti's tempo choices, I can attest from attending one of the concerts from which this recording is derived to the rather slow tempi in the finale (though the rest ...
My take from your review is that they play the excised passage and that this passage is normally not recorded or played. Is that correct? I have the Eisenstadt Trio ...
The previous Gatti release was recorded in DXD so fingers crossed this will become the recording standard at the RCO now. As near to DSD as we'll get probably at this venue.
As far as the Mahler Cooke 10, there is a MCH high rez download available for some time from the Seattle Symphony. I purchased it from Acoustic Sounds.

This title is part of an ECM series of 6 titles (so far) issued by the Japanese retailer Tower Records. As such it is only available from Tower Records.......and they don't ship internationally.
Help is at hand though. CD Japan has a proxy shopping arrangement available ($34ish USD + additional handling costs) and the first 3 titles are also on the Acoustic Sounds Site. Whether this collaboration between Tower Records/Universal Japan/ECM remains exclusive or is time limited is unknown to me.
Being from the ECM stable the packaging remains typically understated. Nothing shiny here.
The liner notes state - "DSD remastered by Christoph Stickel, 01/2017"
And what a excellent job he has done. It was beautifully recorded in the first instance and it sounds like the tapes have remained in great condition. It feels like you have a better than front row seat at the actual concert when listening to it. Compression also remains minimal. One notch up on the original vinyl.
ECM has a very deep catalogue of excellent titles. Here's hoping there will be many more.
