I have finally received my first multi channel Bob Dylan disc. It's great, I have no complaints, but I am wondering for my self, If these iconic albums are really best in surround. The surround mix is great, room filling, no gimmicks, slightly front loaded, the rears a little more than ambient.
All this said, I am on the fence. Should I continue with SACD mch, or build my Dylan catalog via the MOFI stereo discs which I have no doubt are excellent.

Having listened to this release as well as the MoFi stereo version, I have to hand it to the MoFi - all the Columbia SACDs are shriller, with a more pronounced vocal mix that makes them frankly less enjoyable to listen to over time.

The surround on this disc is a lot like the other Dylan Columbia releases - so minor as to be no real benefit over the stereo mix.

If you have the option to get both, get the MoFi versions. These were good for the time, but they're no longer the best version to own.
