Mozart: Serenade No. 10 'Gran Partita'

LSO Wind Ensemble

In the 1982 film Amadeus the composer Salieri's first encounter with Mozart is at a performance of the 'Gran Partita'. Salieri is astonished that the music's great beauty could be so at odds with Mozart's rather vulgar reputation. Yet this seven-movement tour de force, exquisite and well crafted, is quite simply music no other compose could have written.
