Interesting and long-awaited album that brings together all the SACD recordings internationally; Mahler’s 5th and 9th as well as Bruckner’s 8th were released earlier on SACD only in Japan. The box set features also a new recording, Shostakovich’s 7th, that has not been released before. A good choice for those who have not purchased individual albums, I think.

BR Klassik gave up on SA-CD a few years ago so this is really interesting. Maybe stock clearance or less likely a change of art!

Very sad news this morning as Mariss Jansons has passed away at the age of 76. He had been unwell for several years and left the RCO a few years ago because of his declining health. Unquestionably one of the foremost conductors of our age and a huge loss to classical music. He leaves us with an outstanding legacy of wonderful SACD recordings with the RCO and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. R.I.P Maestro
