Comment by CARLOS DA COSTA - February 10, 2022 (1 of 1)
These recordings with the Concertgebouw are just fabulous! It would be necessary to quote everything, but Mahler's 2nd with Kathleen Ferrier is out of time, the best I've heard to date (even that of Walter with NY). There is a real added sound value compared to the DECCA edition. Unfortunately, the sound is not as good as the rest of the other recordings, but it becomes acceptable. I bought this box, initially, for this recording...but everything is of an incredible standard. The box is neat, the sound, even if it is in mono, is good (except Mahler's 2nd), and THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to Archiphon for having published them on SA-CD, and with so much care. For the deserted island with the set of war recordings by Furtwanger (DG), Walter's Mahler (SA-CD Sony), Das Lied von der Erde by the same Klemperer (SA-CD Warner) and the set of the Second School of Vienna by Karajan (SA-CD DG).
