Celebrating the 60th birthday of one of the most distinguished and esteemed organists in the world, Olivier Latry, Deutsche Grammophon presents his complete recordings for the Yellow Label. Olivier Latry became titular organist of the Great Organ of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris in 1985 when he was just twenty-three, succeeding such luminaries as Louis Vierne and Pierre Cochereau. In the years since his appointment he has become acknowledged as one of the world’s most eminent exponents of the organ.
This collection includes one disc of previously unreleased recordings from the In Spiritum and Midnight At Notre-Dame sessions plus one disc featuring Latry’s recordings for Decca France. A Blu-ray Audio disc collects In Spiritum and Midnight At Notre-Dame and the previously unreleased recordings (CDs 1–3) and presents them in 96 kHz/24-bit stereo / 5.1 Surround 96 kHz/24-bit and in Dolby Atmos 48kHz/24-bit. Booklet notes include an updated history of the Notre-Dame organ by Olivier Latry, a new note Olivier Latry – Ambassador for French Organ Music by musicologist Günter Lade and full technical spec and recording details, and organ specifications of the Notre-Dame organ. This edition marks the 60th birthday of M. Latry (22 February), the 30th anniversary of the death of Olivier Messiaen (27 April), and the bi-centenary of the birth of César Franck (10 December).
