John, I think you will be delighted. The EMI tracks that were previously released on SACD some years ago are enhanced by the new mastering (which is at a higher resolution); in particular the sound on the Appalachia / Brigg Fair disc (produced by Christopher Bishop) is now quite beautiful. But the big surprise to me were the ex-Pye tracks from the '50's. The first four of these, which made an LP back in the day, were produced by the famous Mercury team of Robert Fine and Wilma Cozart (Mercury and Pye were associated for a time. Pye released Mercury discs in the U K and Mercury released Pye material in the US). All but one were re-recorded for EMI (so they appear twice in this set) but the sound belies its age and Barbirolli sounds to me just a little more relaxed (a little younger?!) in the earlier recordings. It's just a marvellous set which has already given me much pleasure and I hope will for you also.

Indeed, having listened once all the way through, I am very happy with the quality of the sound, remarkable for the age. Highly recommended to Delius lovers.
