One wonders if this SACD will ever be released. What's the latest Jared?

Hiredfox, your comment prompted me to have a quick look around the Internet.

It's strange... This disc was released on September 22nd last year, but only in Japan. It's not available elsewhere. I'm surprised Channel Classics, which is a European company, don't offer it to the Western market too. Moreover, the album that's being sold in Japan seems to have been produced for the international market, i.e. it's not a release that was prepared exclusively for Japan. I'm deducing this from the fact the same album was also released shortly after under "domestic distribution specifications". I've never seen this type of release but I suppose it means they take the Western album and repackage it with an obi strip and, perhaps, a Japanese translation of the liner notes. They would not have done this with an album that was made for the Japanese market from the start.

If Channel Classics don't eventually make this title more widely available, I guess you'll have to order it on Amazon Japan, on Ebay or through a Japanese proxy service, like Buyee.

(But yes, Hiredfox, let's hope Jared Sacks will see your comment and tell us a bit more.)

It's readily available on Amazon US, Presto, and all the other usual suspects. For some reason it's the wrong info here.

Comment by Athenaeus - March 19, 2023 (5 of 9)

You're right, Ubertrout! I think I see what's happening here. It was released in Japan with a different code. In Japan, the UPC is 4589538782955. That's what I searched with and that's why it seemed to only be available over there. This page also seems to be linked to the Japanese code.

Everywhere else the UPC is 723385428220. The latter is indeed available all over the place (except Japan, of course). So if one searches on Amazon or Ebay using "723385428220", one finds it right away.

Jared Sacks sold Channel Classics last year to the Outhere Group in Belgium. He is staying on as artistic director and will make the recordings. Outhere however, do the distribution.
This might account for the problems mentioned.

Thanks for the info, Athenaeus. Correct UPC/EAN code was added by Stephen to link this SACD to the partner vendors.

First impressions not that favourable.
