trptk  TTK0089

Stereo/Multichannel Hybrid

Classical - Chamber

Works by Schubert, Schumann & Shostakovich

Dmitry Ferschtman (cello)

Over the years – now that we have practically covered the entire classical and romantic repertoire for cello and piano – we have realised more and more clearly why we have become musicians in the first place and what is indispensable for our inner balance.

Comment by Marcus DiBenedetto - October 3, 2023 (1 of 1)

I couldn't let this album fade away without even a comment. Released a year ago, I downloaded the album in surround DXD. Cellist, Dmitry Ferschtman is centered in the soundstage. His wife, Mila Baslawskaja, plays the grand piano directly behind him (as pictured in the booklet). Soundstage depth is critical in this situation and TRPTK recorded it wonderfully. Reviews are good. Mischa Spel, NRC, says "...Everything that comes out of the speaker here immediately touches the soul". Aart van der Wal, OpusKlassiek, "And how deeply immersed and delicately played by Ferschtman and Baslawskaya!". Lastly, Paul Herruer, Dagblad van het Noorden, "...the piano tone is clear, portamento and vibrato in the cello are tasteful and the crisp high notes shine".

The music runs from "light" to Shostakovich "dark". Playing this high resolution music through a good system will give you a very enjoyable experience. The album is proof that music does not belong entirely to youthful musicians. Here we have an older couple with decades of experience performing in concert. They bring their musicianship to you through this album.
