Divine Mercy is the theme of this Cantata. Youthful composer Daniel Knaggs (b. 1983) wrote the music based partly on the spiritually inspired writings of Maria Faustina Kowalska. All the lyrics and translations are in the liner notes. Currently, I only have the stereo version, available for download from the Cappella website. There is an SACD with a multichannel version. I’ll update this comment once I give it a listen.

Sacred choral is a favorite of mine. This one does not disappoint. Mark Donahue from Soundmirror was the recording/mastering engineer providing us with superb sonics. The album was recorded at Stude Concert Hall, Shepherd School of Music, Rice University, September 12 and 14, 2021. I’ve listened to the album many times now and I am always emotionally connected to it. The soloists are all excellent and I was particularly impressed with the tenor. He brings great emotion to his singing. The chorus is also excellent with both female and male voices. The music offers wonderful melodies. The range is broad from darkness with low bass notes to sacred chant to ultimately, Divine Mercy.

If you like sacred choral music, especially with a modern approach, this album is highly recommended.
