A pleasant enough listen through and through, though undemanding artistically and sonically.
It is somewhat flat sounding. A determinedly inoffensive presentation seems to have been the objective here and on that score they have succeeded handsomely.
It was SACD mastered by Ryan K. Smith, and he seems (I'm not familiar with the original 1994 CD) to have done a good job. Instructively the Average Dynamic range is now 13. When first released it was at 8. So, a big change and it sounds at its best at higher volumes as a result. For fans of the album, it will likely sound quite different to the original CD.
There is also the multi-channel Blu-ray version from 2001 to consider Hootie & The Blowfish: Cracked Rear View which has an average DR of 12. Again, I have not heard it.

A good sounding version of this huge seller.
Not much to add but for a 90's album.............decent all around.
I also have the Stone Temple Pilots core sacd and this one.......another 90's album was not so much to my liking. So I was pleasantly surprised with Hootie.
