Elke Völker (E. F. Walcker organ, St. Antonius, Papenburg)
The long wait is over! Our Karg-Elert Edition with Elke Völker continues with Vol. 9. We are proud to have recorded the new SACD album on a monumental instrument by E.F. Walcker. The opus 2150 from 1927 was built by Dr. Oscar Walcker for the Hans-Sachs-Haus concert hall in Gelsenkirchen. It was removed from there in 2002 and faithfully restored by the Romanus Seifert company (Kevelaer) between 2005 and 2007. In 2017, the instrument was finally purchased by the parish of St. Antonius in Papenburg, and in autumn 2020 it was inaugurated in the neo-Gothic church there, which was built in 1877. Hence, our new SACD is the very first recording of the instrument in its new location!
Vol.9 offers two of the most important late cycles by Karg-Elert: Cathedral Windows Op.106 and Triptych Op.141. In addition, the complete Op.75 (1-4) is presented. Karg-Elert fans will be amply rewarded for the long wait.
