Comment by Mark Decker - October 5, 2025 (2 of 10)

According to a Facebook post reference recordings responded to, this will be a November release on sacd

Comment by John Bacon-Shone - October 6, 2025 (3 of 10)

I see no problem with Presto itself - they continue to deliver good service for SACDs, but SACD production seems to be less common for some labels - I believe Chandos explained that there was one producer out of service for several months

Available on Amazon as a disc. Just timing with Presto one suspects

Comment by Marcus DiBenedetto - October 10, 2025 (5 of 10)

It's available now in all audio codecs at Native DSD. I'm headed to purchase it now in 24/352.8 DXD. It includes many spoken sections. I took a quick read of the pdf notes. Honeck, as usual, provides a robust description of what he wanted to accomplish with this recording. You may want to at least download the pdf and take a look.

Dear Marcus,
Dxd is not a DSD format. It is a 24 Bit PCM format with a very high sampling rate. It was just devoloped to do all the mixing stuff which is not possible with a DSD file

Comment by hiredfox - October 21, 2025 (7 of 10)

I am sure Marcus did not imply that AOS - playing devil's advocate.

Comment by Graham Williams - October 22, 2025 (8 of 10)

It is perhaps worth noting that this disc is titled 'Requiem - Mozart's Death in Words and Music' not 'Mozart's Requiem'.
Those seeking the latter might be well advised to look elsewhere.
I would advise reading David A. McConnell's excellent review on The Classic Review (https://theclassicreview.com/album-reviews/review-requiem-mozarts-death-in-words-and-music-manfred-honeck) that echoes my own view of this "production".

Comment by Adrian Quanjer - October 22, 2025 (9 of 10)

I share Graham's misgivings, and I, too, wondered why Honeck would bring Mozart’s Requiem into the realm of ‘stage productions’. Graham is not alone in preferring to keep the Requiem ‘as is’. Nonetheless, let me add (and Graham will concur) that we have enjoyed many excellent recordings, sometimes over-amplified readings but always with a view to exciting the audience within the limits of musical honesty.

Some ideas work, some don't Adrian. This doesn't sound like one that does from your comments and Graham's

Sadly it'll pass me by even though every Sound Mirror recording is a present from Heaven.
