Sir John Barbirolli (conductor)
Sir John Barbirolli’s electrifying interpretations of the works of Jean Sibelius have inspired audiences all over the world. In a letter to Barbirolli, Sibelius declared himself to be a ‘devoted admirer’ of the conductor, adding that he was always happy to know that his compositions were in Barbirolli’s ‘masterful hands’. This collection features, among other works, the complete symphonies – including Barbirolli’s specialty, no.2 – the incidental music to Pelléas et Mélisande and that great instrumental song of nationalism, Finlandia.
Stereo recordings from 1966–1970. Remastered in 192kHz/24-bit from original tapes by Art & Son Studio in 2020
Newly remastered for SACD by Circé Studio

So, why not in DSD? If its worth doing at least do it well.

Tower Japan issued this same cycle (which is superb, btw) back in 2018. Did they remaster it in 24/96?

I don't know what Tower did with their set but the back of the EMI box (pictured on Amazon UK) says - "Remastered in 192kHz/24-bit from original tapes by Art & Son |Studio in 2020. Newly remastered for SACD by Circe Studio." Clearly then we are looking at more recent remasterings than for the Tower set. Circe are the people who have done all of EMI's recent SACD remasterings and from this site I know I am not alone in thinking them superb, so - even though I own the Tower set - I have placed my order for this one!
