Comment by James Faulkner - September 18, 2021 (1 of 1)
The old SACD.net site included some comments to the effect that this recording had some problems. I'm afraid I can't understand why anyone should think so. The performances and recording seem to me excellent (I've listened in stereo). The recording is clear and light, not unlike Jean-Efflam Bavouzet's more recent Mozart recordings on Chandos. In both cases, I understand the aim is to capture something of the feeling of the fortepiano - a relatively dry acoustic and very little pedal. I think this works very well in both cases, and avoids the problem with so many heavy, muddy recordings of Mozart on modern concert pianos.
