Review by John Broggio - August 6, 2007

This disc and the companion issue Schumann: Symphonies 3 & 4 - Markl is all too easy to review.

With leaden tempi, flabby textures and unexciting playing - Markl gives credence to the idea that Schumann didn't know how to orchestrate. Anyone who has heard even a snippet of Schumann: Symphonies 2 & 4 - Dausgaard will know how ridiculous this assertion really is and I would urge everyone not to waste their hard earned money or valuable listening time on such a backwards view.

The sound is immaterial.
