Buxtehude: Complete Organ Works Vol. 5
Bine Bryndorf (organ)
The music of the Danish-born organ master Dietrich Buxtehude (c.1637-1707) greatly influenced his rather younger contemporary J.S. Bach with its clarity of line, its elegance and its often daring harmonic invention, all combined in the so-called stylus phantasticus. Vol. 5 of this uniquely authentic recording of Buxtehude's complete organ works takes us to the Sct. Jacobi church in Hamburg, where Buxtehude studied with the great German organ composer Heinrich Scheidemann and formed other important friendships in the musical and religious life of the city.
