Review by John Broggio - August 25, 2011
Only a quick summation is needed here unfortunately.
If one were to hear each note (or indeed beat) in isolation, this would indeed be highly recommendable. However, when listening for a longer line (be it bar or phrase), one searches in vain and it is only at moments where the music "plays itself" that one becomes remotely emotionally involved. Extraordinary for all the polish that these fine musicians lavish on the score that there is no sense of drama or momentum.
Recommended if you want to hear these pieces in the background only.
