I was very disappointed to discover that the original multichannel SACD, out of stock and quite expensive as such, is offered only on stereo here. 3 useless mixes of them!
Apparently, idiot executives from DG decided to sink the new blu-ray pure audio format by keeping all their multichannel recordings on storage. It's my 3rd BR-audio, but probably the last one.
Buy the SACD if you can afford it (50 euros, as I'm writing), but I'll let people decide for themselves wether the Blu-ray Pure Audio price premium is justified over the traditional CD. I know I would have bought a used CD for pennies from Amazon's Market Place, if I had checked the specs in time, since the "loudness war" hasn't ruined classical CDs, so far, and my hifi's just a decent KEF IQ 5.0 surround.

As for the music, those who don't know this fascinating album can listen to it for free (in crappy mp3 quality) here:

Yeah, I totally agree. This was my first BD-A album of DG and probably the last, also. I was very disappointment about the sound, as well. Just 2-channel stereo, no multichannel mix. Why on earth the engineers in DG have decided to proceed in this way? Of course I can always use the Dolby Pro Logic Surround Decoder but the results aren't very realistic.

I have managed to solve this problem with 2-channel recording, I think. Previously I used the "Dolby Pro Logic II" surround decoder with this album. Nowadays I have changed it to "DTS Neo 6" decoder which offers very pleasant 6-channel surround sound from stereo sources. The results were so impressive that I've considered to order more 2-channel BD-A albums. Perhaps this wasn't a bad idea at all... ;)

I know it's just 2-channel, but this is one of my go-to albums for knocking guests's socks off. Brilliant performances and pristine recordings, especially of the Beethoven sonata.
